to tell you the truth i am not such a fan of arbitrary colors. i saw the picture on the 'community' page, and i really like how you take advantage of the frame to introduce your subject. if you kept all bw, i think the picture would be much stronger.

@SKHallisey: Thanks for your honesty. I really appreciate your feedback! Actually this is my first try of b/w with a colored detail. I like it in this picture because the flag is such a colorful part of the picture. When the photo was all b/w it looked way more boring for me...

Maybe you can post the image without the colored flag. I tend to think that it's not the flag that makes the picture interesting or boring, but the nice round curve you've captured as well as the structures in the building as well as the good balance in tones.

Excellent compostion with those curving lines. I like the contrast to this that the presence of the man provides. Having just a touch of colour is a clever idea -- and I do like it very much -- but I'm thinking it competes with the man as main subject in the image. Just my thoughts on it. Most importantly, though, I think this is a great example of classic style street photography (in the broadest meaning of that term), so well done!

very nice capture. I like the selective color you did on the flag, it works. The composition of the man it he photo relative to the structures around him flow nicely.

Hello Mirko, great shot here -- love the directional lines, the composition, the central figure and your 2 part title that pulls it all swimmingly together. A very graphic shot! To answer your question, my name is Jaycee, though many refer to me as 'DJ' on the site. I am rather new to the photography community (1.5 years) and this community in specific (exactly 1 month last Saturday) although i did my undergraduate Uni studies in painting (oil / water color) and printmaking. Thanks to your comment this morning i have found your blog so i have come for a visit! :) Welcome again!

Effective use of an effect I usally don't like, but it pays off nicely here.
But all well with a German flag, you shouldn't win EURO2008, because I lose about 130 Euro's if you do!

hi there. emily here.. saw medival market - night's coming on community home page. colours n form attracted me. i'm really liking what i see on ur blog n ur about page is the best i've seen so far! tells a story. and yes i am taking photos.

i like the leading lines in this photo. nt a fan of the splash of colour thou.. kinda.. random.
