King of the catacombs: Budapest

Strange stone head of a king found in the catacombs underneath Budapest's castle hill. The catacombs have been a shelter in times of fire and besiegement and are now open for visitors. In summer times admission is only in groups, but last december we were able to visit the catacombs all alone. Even if I know that this is not the sharpest picture, I think it is still worth showing...

wow -- is this a representation of an 'alien' king? this doesn't look human at all! amazing! reminds me of a picture you would see in a graphic novel! very intriguing subject matter! wonderful shot -- the lighting really makes this thing look massive!

@dj.tigersprout: Hej DJ. i don't know if it is intended to be an alien king... There are loads of strange objects down in these labyrinths. They also have a well with red wine spilling out from four devils(?)... Should you ever happen to visit Budapest have a look at this strange place. A bit hard to find though (good guidebooks tell you where to look).

Very interesting document and good b/w. You decided to force the contrast of the image, and it gives like that a more strange view. A place to visit, of course.

@Observing: Thanks, Observing! I guess it was around 2,5m high. So quite impressive as the 'cave' it is in is not much bigger itself.
