Ardbeg is number three in the row of whisky distilleries on the southern coast of the Isle of Islay near Port Ellen. The distillery can be visited with a tour.
The distillery dates back until 1794 and became a legal distillery in 1815. It was a family business until 1959. In 1977 the distillery was purchased by Hiram Walker (Allied Lyons) and became part of Allied Distillers.
